Persistence
I made the decision to follow Jesus Christ when I was 12 years old. I was attending a two-week summer camp. My tent counselors name was Frank Chandler. Every night of the week, Mr. Chandler would wake up one boy, get him out of bed, and take him outside. There, under the stars, he sat down and led the boy to faith in Christ. I was not looking forward to my turn.
But when it came, Mr. Chandler refused to let my hesitancy win. Instead, he persisted. He referred to the Bible. He asked me tough questions. And he put his arm around me and loved me through my questions. When I finally confessed and prayed to accept Jesus, I could hardly sleep I was so excited! After all, committing ones life to Christ is the most important decision anyone can ever make.
If you know someone today who is hesitant to confess their need for Jesus Christ, do not give up! We must be persistent. C.S. Lewis said it well: “No man is ready to live life on earth until he is ready for life in heaven.” Together lets proclaim the Gospel wherever the Lord leads so as many people as possible can be ready! Who in your life needs to know about Jesus? Commit to praying for them fervently. Then, step out in boldness and tell them the Good News of Jesus Christ.
