Social Action

One amazing thing is happening around the world today. In that believers in Jesus Christ have rediscovered, including myself by the way, the great power or serving your society, your city or your neighbors so as to be able to tell them about the love of God and bless their personal life.

Jesus Himself said, do you remember, “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light so shine before men. That they may see your good works and honor your Father who is in Heaven.”

Why did we ever forget that? Did you know that Jesus Himself lived His life serving the poor, the hungry, the sick, the dead even- Jesus did it, why didnt I do it? Why dont I do it more? You know, the season of service is a thing that weve come up with in our organization and that weve passed around the churches around the world, and the excitement is amazing. You know when you serve a person, you give them a hand financially, or you spend time with them when theyre hurting or you accompany them to the hospital, or you bring a meal when things are not going good in the home, it opens doors to share the love of God, the salvation through Jesus Christ in ways you never imagined. So, serve your community and then share the Good News.

Love

You know when we talk about reaching your world, were really talking about several angles that I want to talk to you about in the next few programs. First, reaching your world, demands love. Sometimes we use the word charity, but love is the word we especially love. The Bible says, God is love. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Love one another as I have loved you, Jesus said. And then He added, by this all men will know that youre my disciples, if you love one another.

And you know when youre trying to reach your world, the number one goal of your life should be Lord, let your love flow through my life. May they see it in my looks, words, my attitudes and my reactions to their comments. Especially when theyre aggressive, or insulting or cynical or sarcastic or put me down. But you know love has great power.

Jesus Christ said the night before He was crucified, “Father may they be one so that the world will believe that You sent me.” When you have an attitude of love towards other believers and to the person you are talking to, the power of the Holy Spirit flows through you. So, love the lost, even when theyre unpleasant. And let God use you to reach your

Hell

Hell is not a popular topic. As soon as its said, people seem to get uncomfortable. But, I think that Hell can be a motivator for evangelism. Ive heard the analogy, “If you had the cure for cancer, wouldnt you tell others?” Similarly, we have the cure for spiritual death – so why arent we telling people?!?!

If you take Hell seriously, and believe what the Bible says, you will share the Good News with an urgency and a passion. Jesus talked about hell more than anyone else in the Bible. If God cares enough about the topic to include it in the Bible, we should probably take it seriously too.

It says in the book of Proverbs, “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, But we knew nothing about this, does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?”

You can rescue those headed for death. So do your part by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with anyone and everyone you meet. No matter what the response, youll never regret it!

The Holy Spirit

Your non-Christian friends may not ask questions about the Holy Spirit. But you can be sure that the He is at work behind the scenes to bring them to Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit is not just a force-he is a person. He is also God. Like the Father and the Son, he is present everywhere. He created the world and gave us Gods Word. The Holy Spirit brought about the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ by the Virgin Mary and he indwelt Jesus during his ministry on earth.

There is no such thing as evangelism without the Holy Spirit. He convinces people of their need for salvation.

It is the Holy Spirit who brings about spiritual rebirth when we trust in Jesus Christ. Once we are born of the Spirit, He lives within us. Jesus said, “The Father will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-the Spirit of truth.”

So depend on the Holy Spirit to help you communicate the Good News. Then watch Him go to work! He is the one who will bring about the new birth as your family, friends, and neighbors put their faith in Jesus Christ.

God the Father

A popular concept of God these days is that he-or rather, it-is a powerful force of nature. But if that were so, how could he-or it-relate to us? The good news is: God is a person, and he can be known!

Weve heard of praying to God the Father. What is he like? First, God the Father is powerful-he has no physical limitations. Second, God is holy. He is completely pure. There is no one else like him. The Bible also says that God is love. He is not just “loving,” he is the source of all real love.

In addition, God is faithful. He always keeps his promises to his creatures. He is always true to himself as well. He will not go against his nature. That is why his justice cannot overlook sin. Praise God he is also merciful and kind!

How can you and I describe God to those who dont know him? Lets show from Scripture-and our lives-that God is worth knowing. And, He wants to be known!
