Love is Consistent

Do you know what “consistency” is? When something is consistent, you can count on it. It does not change. The rising and setting of the sun is consistent.

The Bible says that God’s LOVE is consistent. It uses the word “always” to emphasize this. In I Corinthians 13, the Bible says that love, “ALWAYS protects, ALWAYS trusts, ALWAYS hopes, ALWAYS perseveres.”

Wow! The Bible is absolutely 100% true. So, when the Bible says that love ALWAYS does something, we can count on that! God’s love is more consistent than we could ever imagine!

If you know Jesus Christ today, you have experienced His consistent love. There is nothing like it! Even when you’re having a bad day and lose your temper – God’s love is there. This love is so wonderful, we have to tell others about it!

People are used to things that “give up,” dwindle down, or stop altogether. People are used to love that comes-and-goes. So when you tell people about God’s CONSISTENT love, you are giving them a huge gift!

So, do it today. Tell your friends, co-workers, family, and acquaintances how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Because, it’s only through Him that they can experience unconditional consistent love. What a love that is, and what a message to give away!

Are You a Gong?

Even if we do good things, if we do not love others, it doesn’t matter. If we do not love others, our efforts are as good as dirt. I Corinthians 13 says, “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.”

You might picture a pastor preaching a great sermon but then belittling his wife. That’s not love. He’s like a honking horn on the street – loud, obnoxious and irritating.

Consider your own efforts to serve God. What do people see? Are you an annoying horn? Or, do you make beautiful music that attracts people to Jesus Christ? If your actions stem from a loving heart, then you make a pleasant sound. When your interactions involve patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness – these are some of the fruits of the spirit – then you make people want to get to know Jesus.

Today, consider your interactions with others. How do you treat them? Ask, “Am I respectful of the people in my life? Or, have I become a resounding gong?” People will know you are a Christ-follower by your love. Show them this love today. Then, tell them of the person who can love unconditionally – Jesus Christ.

The Greater of these is Love

Have you ever sat down on a chair? You don’t think twice. You simply sit down. That’s having FAITH in the chair. You trust that it will hold you up!

Hope, on the other hand, is what you need when things aren’t going well. Maybe a divorce. The death of a loved one. Losing your job. But, if you know HOPE because of Jesus then your entire outlook changes. You experience the joy that only hope can bring!

So FAITH is good. And HOPE is amazing. But, did you know that LOVE is even better than faith and hope? I Corinthians 13 says that “these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

You ask: “How can love be better than faith or hope?” It’s because love is eternal. And because the Bible says that “God is love.” Love goes with us – even after death – into heaven where believers will spend eternity with Jesus Christ and God the Father by the Holy Spirit! Isn’t that exciting?

So, if love is the best thing – better than everything else – then we can share Jesus’ love with other people! Tell people about God’s love today.

Explain what Jesus Christ did and what He can give if we will repent and receive Him into our hearts by faith. There isn’t better news in the whole world. So, lovingly share the good news.

Love Never Fails

Technology is a wonderful thing! We often take for granted things such as flipping a switch to get light. Turning a knob to heat the stove. Dialing the phone to talk to a friend. But when technology fails, it really messes up our lives. And, boy, do we complain!

Last winter the power went out on a friend of mine. During that time, he couldn’t watch TV, cook, or even read in bed at night. He had to use a flashlight. He was not enjoying it. The power outage inconvenienced his life (and soured his attitude)!

Did you know that while most things in this life will fail, LOVE NEVER fails? I Corinthians tells us: “Love never fails!” Can you imagine? We are used to things going wrong or failing – Electricity. Food. Cars. Jobs. Relationships. We start to expect failure. But what joy to know that true love never fails! And, because God IS love, we can trust Him. He will not fail.

There is nothing more attractive to those who don’t know Jesus Christ than His unfailing love. Will you share it today? Tell them there is someone who loves them with an unfailing love. | His name is Jesus Christ and He showed His love by going to a cross, giving His own blood to forgive our sins, and then rising from the dead to give us the assurance of eternal life. Now that is the love of a true, divine friend.

What is Love

What is love? Deep within our soul, we long to know true love. Human love is nice when it lasts, but sometimes it’s temporary. When it changes, it hurts. We experience pain. Grief. Sorrow. We think, “If this is love, then I don’t want it!”

Maybe that’s why people don’t understand when the Bible says “God is love.” They think love can go bad. When we think of love, we think of human relationships that hurt. Humans do not know how to love perfectly. Only God does.

The Bible says that “love does not boast. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs.” Now THAT is true love. That’s how God meant for it to be!

As followers of Jesus, we are called to choose to love God and the people around us. We are to love in a way that leads people to Jesus. We are to love in a way that shows people God’s sacrificial love.

Next time you think of love as something that can go bad, dig into God’s Word! The Bible contains the true definition of love in I Corinthians 13. If we know love because God loves us, then we must tell other people! Tell people, today, that God offers us unconditional love.
