Convert VCD to DVD

This is actually very easy to do, and takes only a few steps. Because VCD files use an MPEG-1 format very similar to the MPEG-1 allowed by DVD, most times it’s a simple matter of extracting the MPEG-1 files and using them in a DVD authoring program.

However, please note this simple method requires cooperation with your DVD player as the sequence headers and GOP lengths of VCD are not as controlled as the ones in the DVD specification. And these MPEG-1 video nuances can vary from VCD to VCD, especially on homemade ones. This guide will require a DVD-RW or DVD+RW to test how well your player accepts the DVD made from VCD sources. If you cannot simply transfer the files, a re-encode of the footage may be required.

Why convert VCD to DVD? Before DVD burners were available or popular, many home hobbyists wanted to convert DVD to VCD, to make backup copies, often resulting in several discs per movie. With DVD burners now the de facto optical standard, people find themselves wanting to reduce the amount of discs they have. The easy solution here is that a DVD can hold several VCDs.

A Thief in the Night

When our family lived in South America, our home was broken into twice. Both times this happened when I was gone, and my wife was alone with our four boys. The first time the thieves took about a third of our property. The second time they took everything but the TV and filing cabinets. Nice guys!

But the thing that I resented was that the thieves didnt call me and tell me they were coming! Thieves dont have a habit of letting you know their schedule. They sneak in when you least expect them.

The Lord picks up on that idea when He talks about the second coming of Jesus Christ. First Thessalonians 5 says, “The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”

Why will the second coming happen so suddenly, and when we least expect it? Because the Lord wants us to be ready and alert every day of our lives. He wants us to live each day with the thought that He could return at any moment.

In Matthew 24 Jesus says He will be pleased with the wise and faithful servant who, upon Christs return, is doing what he was asked to do. When Jesus comes again, He wants to find us sharing His liberating Good News with our world. The question is, is that how Hell find us?

I’ll Be Back

Do you know what the next great event in human civilization is going to be? Its the second coming of Jesus Christ to take His people to be with Him in Heaven. Wont that be exciting?

I Thessalonians 4:17 says, “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” The New Testament mentions this second coming over 300 times. It was clearly an event He wanted us to be ready for.

How do you and I prepare for Jesus Christs return? First of all, its essential to have a good relationship with Him, and know Him as our Lord and Savior.

After that, we need to be faithful to the calling He has on our lives. Seconds before He ascended to heaven, after He had promised that He would come back again, Jesus said: “Go and evangelize the world.” That was the major thing on his mind as Jesus left us on earth.

If Jesus came back today, would He find you and me faithfully sharing the message of Good News with the people we know? If not, why dont you recommit yourself to the Great Commission right now?

Remember, the Lord is coming back. In the meantime, its our calling, and privilege, to lead others into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

A Grand Adventure

There are a lot of good things in life, especially as a Christian — wouldnt you agree? And theres nothing wrong with those good things. But there is more to life, much more, than just the blessings of following Jesus. Theres a greater potential – a “best” life that God has for each one of us.

“So Luis,” you may ask, “how do I begin to experience this type of life?” That life comes when we realize that were not only here to enjoy Gods gifts and blessings. Were also here to be a part of Gods exciting rescue plan for the human race!

To live this life, you must allow Jesus to be involved and infused into every part of your life. This happens by staying close to Him on a daily basis, reading His Word, and letting His power work through you. You have to know Christ in a deep, personal way in order to speak convincingly about Him to others.

Philemon 6 says to be “active in sharing your faith so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.”

If you want to experience the kind of life that God has intended for you to live, jump into His plan. Let Him use you in the great adventure of saving souls – theres nothing better!

The Indwelling Christ

I was born and raised in Argentina. And as a boy I went to an excellent church. The Bible was taught fantastically well – but, there were a few things missing.

We all worked very hard at being good Christians. All-night prayer meetings every Friday night, for one. We loved them – but after six or ten months, we began to feel, wow, this is such an effort to keep up! A lot of my friends began dropping out of church altogether.

Then, when I was 25, I finally realized that it wasnt about what I was going to do for God. Its what He will do in me, and through me. I finally understood that its all about me relying on Him and His power. Its not about me — its Christ living in me, and working through me with His strength! That was the beginning of a great liberation and success in leading others to Jesus.

What about you? Are you slugging it out for the Lord, but lacking joy and freedom? Thats not the way God intended for us to live.

Galatians 2:20 tells us, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” As you submit to God, and rest in His supernatural power, He will work through you to influence your world for Jesus Christ!
