A Christmas of Light

Light symbolizes Christmas. We hang Christmas stars and we have trees that are lit up. Its a good symbol because there was light when the angels came and said, “I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Light speaks of life. Light speaks of God. Light speaks of freedom. Light speaks of a clear conscience. And light speaks of forgiveness of sins. The Bible says that “God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.”

God is light. If you know Him today, then you never need to be in darkness. If you do not know Him, will you surrender to Him today? He wants to come into your life. He wants to forgive you. He wants to call you His child. This Christmas will you give your heart to Jesus Christ? Will you do it today? Right now?

Pray with me, “Lord Jesus Christ. I surrender my life to you. I believe in my heart you are the son of God. I know you died on the cross to get rid of all my sins. I believe youre alive. So I open my heart to you. With your power, I will serve you and follow you. I am yours forever because Christ lives in me. Amen.”

The Christian Life Begins at Home

Children dont become Christians by osmosis. Its true that God has no grandchildren. As parents, we should deeply care that our children make a genuine commitment to Jesus Christ. We cant make the decision for them, but we can take an active part in leading our sons and daughters to a solid and lasting faith.

Proverbs 11:30 says “the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he (or she) who wins souls is wise.”

Its thrilling to win someone to Jesus Christ. Your life may be full of exciting moments, but none will match that special time when your child gives their life to the Savior.

I made the decision to follow Christ at a summer camp. Still, the seed of the Gospel had been planted and watered by my parents at home. Its in the home where lifes most crucial curriculum is taught. God designed the home as the place where His word is to be taught, lived and passed on from generation to generation.

The Lord longs to welcome children into His family. Through our instruction, our example and our prayers we can have an active part in seeing God work in our childrens lives.

What Is Heaven? Is It A Real Place, Or Just A Fairy Tale?

Yes Heaven is a real place! The Bible talks about Heaven many times, and makes it very clear that people who believe in Jesus to save them from their sins will go there one day, either when we die, or when Jesus comes back to earth to get us.

After Jesus comes back to Earth HepromisesHe will bring us back to live with Him on the New Earth! Earth He says! A Real place with Water, Grass, flowers, and Trees that you can touch, feel, taste, smell, hear, see . . .

God says in Isaiah 65:17 in the Bible:
Look! I am creating New Heavens and a New Earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore.

The Bible tells us that Heaven is just as real as the Earth where we live now. God even calls the place where well live forever the New Earth. So how can we know what Heaven is like? Well, the Bible tells us!

Just think, if you were trying to describe someplace that you had been, but none of your friends have been there, you would probably tell them about it by comparing it with someplace you all knew and had been. Say you rode an amazing ride at Disney World, you might compare it with some of the rides the Carnival had when it came to your town.

Well, this is what some of the writers of the Bible did to help us understand what Heaven is like. They describe Heaven as; a City, Paradise, a Garden,a Resting Place, the Kingdom of God, a Heavenly Country, The Kingdom of Heaven, and The Future Dwelling Place of the Righteous.

This place will be beautiful far beyond anything we could ever dream about! But, that doesnt mean we shouldnt try! Just close your eyes think of the most beautiful and fun place you haveever seen? What made it beautiful to you? Why is it so fun? Thinking about what Heaven may look like will make you dream about it and get you evenmore excited to go there!

If you can imagine every beautiful place on Earth, the Grand Canyon, Rain Forests, the Smoky Mountains, the beaches in Hawaii, theyre all only a small taste of what the New Earth will look like! The trees will be taller, more fun to climb! The grass will be greener, the sky will be bluer! And speaking of the sky, thats where the most beautiful City on the New Earth is going to come from!

John, one of the writers of the Bible, had a vision or a dream and God showed him what this new City will look like! This city is called the New Jerusalem, and thats where God Himself will live! The Bible says that after God makes the New Earth, the New Jerusalem will come down out of the sky and God the Father and Jesus will bothlive on Earth with us! This will make the New Earth the Capital Planet of the Universe!

John tells us in the book of Revelation Chapter 21, that the City is 1,500 miles long, 1,500 miles wide, and 1,500 miles high. A city that size that was sitting in the middle of the United States would go from Canada to Mexico and from Georgia to the California border! Now thats what I call a capital city!

John also tells us that the city has walls of Jasper and the city itself was pure gold as clear as glass! The foundation, thats the part the city is built on, like the concrete your house is sitting on, is made of different kinds and color of Jewels, and the gates to the city were made from one solid Pearl!

John also describes there being a river flowing down the middle of the main street, this is what is called the River of Life. He said it flowed from the Throne of God and the water was crystal clear, can you imagine a flowing river that was so clear that you could look down and see the bottom? And everyone will be able to drink from the river. Im sure it will be better than any water weve ever tasted before!

On each side of the River grows the Tree of Life, this tree used to be in the Garden of Eden, but God moved it when Adam and Eve sinned, and He will bring it back to Earth one day and we will be able to eat its fruit again. I can only imagine how wonderful that fruit will taste! Now, there will be many other cities in the New Earth, but none quite like this Capital City. I cant wait to see it for myself!
