Helping Sinners

This week weve been looking at the importance of repentance when it comes to sharing our faith. Psalm 51 is a beautiful psalm by King David that depicts what true repentance looks like. It reveals a person with a broken and contrite spirit. And whats the result of this type of repentance? Evangelism!

David ends the Psalm by saying: “Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.” Remember, David has already confessed his sin, hes pointed the finger only at himself; hes pleaded for forgiveness. Now, he looks forward to the future. Davids thinking, Lord, youve done something amazing for me. Now I will help others turn back to you.

You know, a truly forgiven person wants other people to know God the way they know him. Once youve been forgiven and set free, you almost cant help but tell everyone around you about Gods amazing grace. Youll want others to experience that same forgiveness and freedom.

Do you love the lost and want them in the kingdom of God? When youve been repentant and your conscience is clear and youre singing again, you too will say, Lord, Ill help sinners turn back to you. Its a prayer God longs to hear!

Representing the King

Every believer in the eyes of God is positioned as a king or a queen. The Bible says in Rom. 5:17 that we should “reign in life through Christ.”

We are to live as not only members of His kingdom, but we also reign. There is authority with this because we are reigning as ruling kings and ruling queens. That means that wherever we go theres a space over which the Lord has given us authority.

That space may be at your office cubicle, at the factory, or at home with your children. But wherever God takes you, He has put you there to represent Himself with authority, as well as with dignity.

Essentially, the Lord is saying: “When you get a chance to speak, remember I have appointed you a king. This is your piece of the kingdom. Speak well of me. Speak clearly of me. Speak by your conduct, speak words that carry authority, because you have the authority of the Spirit.”

We were meant to reign in this life, and when we can grasp that understanding, the witnessing power is great. So no matter where you find yourself throughout the day, remember that the real reason youre there is to represent the King of kings and Lord of Lords. This truth can revolutionize your life, and the lives of those God puts around you.

Glory in Christ

Did you know that as a follower of Jesus, you are a king or queen? Its true! Romans 8:16 says, “The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children. Now, if we are children then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.” Jesus Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords, and were heirs in His kingdom! Verse 17 goes on to say, “in order that we may also share in His glory.”

There is a glory to the Christian when he sees himself or herself in the position of royalty. Theres a glow. Its not something you put on. Its just there. When you act like a king or queen, people recognize your spiritual, quiet authority.

To me, my father-in-law was a great example of this kind of authority. He wasnt a talker at all. He simply cared for his wife, worshipped the Lord in the church, and he gave his tithe. But what I especially loved about him was he would always invite his old college buddies to hear my evangelistic messages. He prayed they would be saved, and some of them were. Now he was no big mouth. Just a quiet highway engineer, but in my book he lived for God all the days of his life. Thats being the light of the world, and thats the glory of God in a man.

Christians and Priests

Many of you have heard the verse in Hebrews that says we have only one high priest, and his name is Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God. But did you know that all believers are also priests in the eyes of God? We all have equal access to the Heavenly Father. With the new covenant, God ordained that Christians dont have priests — Christians are priests.

There are three things that priests do according to Scripture: They worship God, intercede for others, and minister according to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Every one of us is given gifts according to our position and the Lords choice, to use for His glory.

If you take your priesthood seriously, theres no telling what God could do with your life and your gifts. So, pray today that God would do powerful deeds through you to reach the lost. As you do, He will begin to open doors that you never envisioned. You will begin to witness for Christ with power and authority. And to witness simply means to tell what youve seen and heard. By accepting your priestly role, youll be astonished at the power that will be unleashed, and the lives that will be changed.

When We Get To Heaven What Will We Be like? Will We Become Angels?

Have you ever watched a movie, or a TV show that showed Heaven? Maybe they showed people with wings and a harp sitting on a cloud, or even people who had died and turned into angels coming back to earth to help people and earn their wings. But, this is not what the Bible tells us is true at all.

Yes, Angels do exist and they DO come to earth and help us, but they are not people. The Bible tells us all kinds of stories about Angels coming to earth, helping people, delivering messages, and even fighting with other spirits to protect us!

Some people get confused on this because Jesus said something in Matthew 22:30 about us being like Angels, but what He was saying is that we, like the Angels, wont get married when we get to Heaven, He wasnt saying that we turn into Angels, or even that were like Angels in any other way. Angels are beings in their own right, just like People are Human Beings, Angels are Angels. God made People and Angels very different. If God wanted us to all be like Angels, there wouldnt have been any reason for Him to make us in the first place.

But, the Bible tells us what we will be like! After Jesus returns God will bring back all the Christians who died, even people who died THOUSANDS of years ago! And Hell make their bodies perfect, better than we ever were before! Our body will be like Jesus body after he rose from the dead!

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
Says We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet Him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord Himself will come down from Heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.

And Philippians 3:21 says Jesus will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own.

So, for us to know what Our new body will be like, we need to know what Jesus new body is like. Lets take a look at what the Bible said about it. When Jesus rose from the grave after He died for us, He said to His friends in Luke 24:39 . . .

“Look at My hands, look at My feet, its really Me! Touch Me and you will see that I am not a ghost. Because ghosts dont have bodies as you see that I do.

Jesus had a Real body that people could touch and see; He walked on Earth and ate with His friends! The Bible also tells us that Jesus had some amazing abilities,He could appear to his friends in a locked room, He could disappear when He wanted, and when Jesus left the Earth to go to Heaven He wasnt held down by gravity, but He went up into the air. This was called His ascension.

Thats right,He flew!

Now, we have to remember that Jesus is God, and because He is, He may be able to do things that we arent able to do. But, the Bible tells us in many places, like the one you read above, that we will have bodies like Jesus,so its very possible that we will be able to do some of these very same things, and who knows how much more well be able to do!
