Light in Jesus Christ

Victor Hugo, the famous European philosopher and writer, once said this: “The true division of humanity is between those who live in the light and those who live in darkness. Our aim must be to diminish the number of the latter and increase the number of the former.”

Thats a great goal, but then unfortunately Hugo continues with, “that is why we demand education and knowledge.” Education and knowledge were all for, of course, but they dont get you out of darkness into light – at least, not morally and spiritually.

This Christmas, Im reminded that true light cant be found in education or science or philosophy. True light is found only in Jesus Christ. Jesus says in John chapter 8, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

This Christmas, dont lean on your knowledge, or career, or education to enjoy the light of life. Those things are good, but they cannot bring lasting peace. Lasting peace and true life can be found only in Jesus Christ. Surrender to Him today and enjoy living in the light of Jesus Chris

The Fundamentals

The doctrine of the cross is absolutely fundamental when it comes to sharing our faith. I think in many circles, its become almost forgotten. Christians just dont talk about the cross much anymore.

But we must remember that the crucifixion death, and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christianity. Its only through our Saviors shed blood that we find peace, forgiveness, and eternal life.

Ephesians 1:7 is a great verse. The apostle Paul writes, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of Gods grace.” The doctrine of the cross is so fundamental when it comes to sharing our faith.

Its the only way to give a full and accurate picture of what Christ has done for us. The world is full of people who are laden with guilt. So forgiveness through the cross of Christ is what makes Christianity so appealing!

Jesus Christ comes to forgive, cleanse, and disinfect our souls from acts that lead to death. What an amazing Savior we serve! Is there someone you know who needs to hear about the powerful cross of Christ? Its wonderful news for a friend who needs a fresh start!

Forget About It

Why is it that we cant remember where we put our car keys or our pencil but we can recall all the details about the moment someone disappointed us? We forget our kids birthdays, but dont forget when someone says something hurtful. Unless we learn how to forgive and forget, we will always live in the past. Bitterness or guilt will eat away at us.

In the Bible, Saul persecuted the Church. He committed terrible sins. Yet, after he became a believer in Jesus Christ, he was renamed Paul and said, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Paul deliberately chose to forget his past failures through the power of the indwelling Christ in his life.

My friend, if you have confessed your sin to God, dont revisit it. God has forgotten your offense! It has vanished from His memory as though it never happened. You can choose right now to confess your sin, accept Gods forgiveness, and forget about it. Move forward in peace and let God use you to reach your world for Him! When you are free from guilt, you will be a powerfu

Skeletons in Your Closet

Are you haunted by the past? Do you feel guilty or trapped because you cant let go of something from years ago?

Rudyard Kipling said it well: “Nothing is ever settled until it is settled right.” We can point our finger and make up excuses, but the key to being free is confession.

Confess your sin to God and make things right with whomever you have wronged. Confess your sins before the Lord and experience Gods forgiveness. Come before Him and say, “Lord, I have sinned. I am unworthy. Please forgive me. Make me clean again.”

And, He will. He will also give you freedom and joy. You will be able to look every man and woman in the eye because youre clean. You are forgiven. You will be at peace with God and with others.

James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”

Confess your sins to the Lord, experience His forgiveness, and then tell those in your world that they can be forgiven too. They need His freedom just as much as you. Will you tell the people in your world about the forgiveness Jesus offers?

Differences and Similarities: Peace

Do you remember the first time you came face-to-face with the reality of death? When it moved from being a distant concept to an unavoidable fact that YOU TOO will indeed one day pass away? Facing this reality, Christians and nonChristians respond in different ways.

I have felt the fear that takes over the hospital room of a dying person who does not know Jesus Christ. I have also known the peace with which a dying believer approaches death. There is nothing more dramatically different than feelings of terror and those of perfect peace. That moment when we face our own immortality we realize what we really believe.

If you follow Jesus Christ today, you walk in a peace thats incomprehensible to your non-believing friends and neighbors. But, friend, this is not a gift to hoard! Gods peace is for each of us. In the Bible Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”

Lets share the reason for our peace today. Tell someone about Jesus Christ and His perfect peace – both in the face of death and in everyday living.
