Crucify the Flesh

Why does it seem that some believers suddenly turn away from God? I believe one of the biggest reasons Christians fall away from Jesus is because of un-confessed sin.

Without keeping a clear conscience before the Lord, its easy to drift away from the faith. You become hardened to the Spirit of God, and eventually you stop listening to His voice altogether. Sin blinds you and enslaves you. Its a horrible place to be!

Perhaps this describes your situation. Are you struggling with a sin thats keeping you from a right relationship with God? If so, Galatians 5 gives a very clear remedy. Verse 26 says, “Those who belong to Christ have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.”

If you belong to Jesus, then theres only one thing to do with the flesh: Crucify it. Get rid of it. Be ruthless. Dont play games. Deal with your sins once and for all by crucifying them on the cross.

That means you admit your sin to God, repent, ask forgiveness, and turn the other way. Ask the Holy Spirit for strength and He will help you! By crucifying the flesh, you will be empowered to live what Jesus calls the abundant life. Your life will be a powerful witness to your world of Gods forgiveness and grace.

Hell to Pay

I once had a gentleman ask me, “If I find another faith to believe in other than Christianity, will I really be punished like some people say?”

This is a tough question to answer, isnt it? One of the hardest things to tell people is that yes, there is hell to pay, for their sins. But thats exactly what we must share with others. Not in a judgmental kind of way, but with kindness and respect.

So I told this man, “Yes, if you turn down Jesus Christ, you will be punished. The Bible does warn us about the consequences of not following Jesus Christ.

Revelation chapter 20 says If anyones name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. We cant play games with God.”

You and I must remember that the Good News is so good because we dont get what we deserve, which is hell. Because of Jesus Christs death on the cross and His resurrection, we are free from eternal condemnation if we choose to believe in Him. The Good news is so wonderful because of what it frees us from, which is eternity without God!

Faith in Christ gives you a security and peace that you would never know otherwise — both now, and for eternity. Who in your world needs to hear this message?

Average or Avid?

Lets say youre not merely an average basketball fan, lets say you make great sacrifices to support your hobby. You buy season tickets to watch your favorite team. You wear your teams colors. Not even a stranger could mistake your love for basketball!

Now, thats an AVID fan – they are FANATIC you could say. Theres also the AVERAGE fan. This person says he likes basketball. But the average fan really doesnt have a favorite team, doesnt care if he misses a game, and wouldnt pay for tickets, for sure.

When it comes to following Jesus Christ, are you a fanatic, so to speak? Or are you like the “average” basketball fan? Are you content with missing opportunities to reach your world for Jesus? Are you satisfied being just an “average,” instead of ACTIVE, Christian?

In the Bible Jesus says, “He who is not for me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters.” When you are not living all-out for Jesus, you are not engaging in the spiritual battle for eternal souls.

Today I ask you again: are you a threat to the Kingdom of Darkness? Are you actively sharing as well as living your faith? People really do need to hear the Good News of eternal life and forgiveness.

I was reading in John 17 just this morning, and boy was I challenge that people need to hear that God is calling them. So do it, and be Gods mouthpiece.

What Does It Mean To Store Up Treasure in Heaven?

Did you know that you can save up treasure in Heaven?

Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21 Dont store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

So, whats that mean? Well, do you have a piggy bank in your room? Maybe youre putting money in it to save for something you want to buy like a new video game, doll, or lego set, you may not spend money on other things, like a candy bar or a soda because you want to save all your money for that new toy! Many people work only to buy more and more things, but when we die we wont be able to take any of our things with us to Heaven.

Now, having Stuff isnt a bad thing, but God wants us to be more interested in things that will last FOREVER! So you may wonder, What will last forever?

Our friendship with Jesus and friendships that we make here on Earth will be things that last forever. Just think, if you have a friend here on Earth and you tell them about Jesus and how He wants to save them from their sin too, and you help them to know Jesus, then you and they will be friends forever in Heaven!

Maybe you can play hide and seek, or build sand castles together on a beach, or even go exploring with them on some other planet! The more friends you take with you to Heaven, the more exciting it will be for all of you when you get there!

Besides the friends we will take with us, we can lay up treasure in heaven by doing other things like giving out tracts that tell people about Jesus or giving money to help send Bibles or missionaries to other countries so they can tell people about Jesus. We canhelp older people we know with chores that may be too hard for them to do any more like taking out the trash, carrying in grocery bags, or mowing the yard. You can put on a play about a Bible story for your family, or buy a Christmas gift for another kid whose parents cant afford to get them anything this year . . . you get the idea.

Jesus really just wants us to help each other and tell others how to get to Heaven, and by doing this He says He will reward us when we get to Heaven. He doesnt really say what He will give us, but we can only imagine how wonderful agift would be thatGod made special, just for us!

Now that youve heard about Heaven,
Jesus, and what Hes done for us so we can get there,
I hope you will trust Jesus with your life.

Remember all you have to do is believe and trust Him, talk to Him,
and try your best to do what you know is right so you can make Him proud.

Will We Have Toys In Heaven?

Of course we will. God made us with a playful side! Even when we get grown up we still like to play games. There is no reason why we won’t still have toys in Heaven, as long as they are not something that would be disrespectful to God.

They may be anything from Building Blocks, Video Games, Dolls and Doll Houses, Legos, to other games like, playing Dress Up, Hide and Seek, Chase, Tag. You can go Swimming or play games you didnt even know existed yet!

And because well all have new bodies that wont get tired, maybe some grown ups can join in with you. How would you like to play a game of Baseball or Football with your Mom or Dad? Maybe even some of your favorite Bible story friends will play too, like, Adam and Eve, Mary, Paul, Jonah, or Rebecca. You could go Water skiing with Peter, hes had a little practice walking on water! Or maybe you will go Horseback riding or go to an amusement park with friends you havent even met yet. And why not? Dont you think that people who like to build things will still enjoying building things just as much on the New Earth? Things like Roller Coasters, Ferris Wheels, and Carousels. I know Ill still enjoy riding them! The possibilities of what things well be doing are ENDLESS!
