Left Behind

The second coming of Jesus Christ, and the resurrection of the body of the Christian, is promised in the Bible very clearly. But sadly, there will be many unbelievers left behind when Jesus returns again.

Luke 17 tells us, “On that night, two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.” Its a sobering thought, isnt it?

If Jesus came back today, who in your world would be left behind? Is it a co-worker who sits next to you in your office? Is it a neighbor you go walking with? A classmate, teacher, friend, or even your spouse?

Imagine Jesus returning and your friend or neighbor or wife turning to you, asking, “Why didnt you ever tell me about Him?” Can you imagine the regret?

The reality is that no one knows when Jesus is coming back. It could be at any moment. So we must be vigilant today, to speak up with the truth of the Good News Gospel. Why dont you make a commitment to share the Lord with whoever He brings across your path?

Lets shine the light of Christ to everyone we meet, so that no one is left behind when He returns.

The Indwelling Christ

I was born and raised in Argentina. And as a boy I went to an excellent church. The Bible was taught fantastically well – but, there were a few things missing.

We all worked very hard at being good Christians. All-night prayer meetings every Friday night, for one. We loved them – but after six or ten months, we began to feel, wow, this is such an effort to keep up! A lot of my friends began dropping out of church altogether.

Then, when I was 25, I finally realized that it wasnt about what I was going to do for God. Its what He will do in me, and through me. I finally understood that its all about me relying on Him and His power. Its not about me — its Christ living in me, and working through me with His strength! That was the beginning of a great liberation and success in leading others to Jesus.

What about you? Are you slugging it out for the Lord, but lacking joy and freedom? Thats not the way God intended for us to live.

Galatians 2:20 tells us, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” As you submit to God, and rest in His supernatural power, He will work through you to influence your world for Jesus Christ!

Changing Times

In the 1950s, many people in Western countries had grown up going to church. They had heard about Jonah and the whale, David and Goliath, and the death and resurrection of Jesus. There was a general knowledge and background of the Bible.

But in todays generation, a high percentage of people think they know what the Bible teaches, but in fact theyve never even cracked open the book. They may have heard about Jesus on the radio or TV, but much of that is simply mocking Him. Most people today dont have an accurate picture of the real Jesus.

So when we approach this generation with the Good News, we cant take anything for granted. We should present why Jesus Christ came to earth to die for our sins, and how He gave us victory over sin and death when He rose from the dead. And use Gods Word to reveal the story of redemption.

In Second Timothy, Paul tells Timothy, “You have known the Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

The word of God is alive and powerful! So ask God to help you share His Biblical plan of redemption with your world. And lets you and I win this generation to Jesus Christ!

Differences and Similarities: Faith

How can two people of different religious faiths meet in the middle? How can you as a Christian talk to a nonChristian about your faith in Jesus Christ?

It really isnt as complicated as we make it. In fact, key differences can actually serve as meeting points for you and the person with whom you wish to share the Gospel. One such difference is the issue of FAITH.

Ask your friend quite simply, “Where do you put your faith when things get hard?” Listen – really listen! – to his response. Step into his shoes. See things from his perspective.

He may say he trusts in SOMEONE to make things right. Maybe Buddha. Maybe himself. Or maybe he has faith in HISTORY – that all things “just work out.” Perhaps he has NO FAITH in anything right now. Just listen to his response.

Without judging, then share how Jesus Christ has made all the difference in your life. Explain that your faith in Jesus is not blind. The Bible says, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

Explain how Jesus has come through for you in tangible ways. If your friend questions you, your faith cannot be disproved. Your faith is real and valid. Share it today.

Differences and Similarities: Hope

God created every human being with the unique ability and desire to HOPE. We all know that hope brings us a buoyant feeling. If we struggle with depression and cannot find hope on our own, we long for someone else to lend us THEIR hope. Hope is what gets us through difficult times.

One major difference between followers of Jesus Christ and those who do not follow Him is our SOURCE of hope. You see, a nonbeliever knows what hope is. She experiences hope. But she often cannot trust her hope.

For example, she may hope the doctors test results come back favorably. But hoping merely in circumstantial change is a very unsure way to live.

On the other hand, the source of all Christian hope is Jesus Christ. We dont just hope for a change in circumstance, we actually talk to God through prayer and ask Him to intervene. Whether He does or not is entirely up to Him. But our HOPE is secure because HE is secure.

In the Bible, the Psalms are filled with reminders that God, the source of our hope, is faithful. Wont you share the reason for your hope today?
