Activate Your Faith

Did you watch the Olympics last time they were on? I did, and boy was it a treat! I could watch the worlds best athletes competing from my own living room! I probably had a better view of the games on my TV than the spectators who were watching in person. I didnt stop to think about how the TV let me see all those athletes. I just turned on the set and enjoyed the Games.

Our faith is kind of like turning on our TV. We either do it or we do not. We have to chose, everyday, to “turn on” our faith. We cant just sit like a bump on the log and expect to grow in our walk with the Lord. The more we “turn on” our faith, the more well be able to recognize Gods voice in our lives. Today, activate your faith and tell another person about Jesus Christ.

John 17:3 says, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Isnt that good news? If you know Christ Jesus, you can look forward to eternal life with God in heaven! Make sure you tell that to someone today. Ask the Lord to lead you to an opportunity to put your faith in action by telling another person about Jesus Christ.

Am I Truly Saved?

There was once a Sunday school teacher, about 45 years old. He had ten young children in his classroom. He asked them, “Why do you think everyone around town calls me a Christian?” He received no response. Upon a second prompting, the room remained dead silent. Finally, one boy spoke up. “Maybe its because they dont know you,” he said.

We can laugh at that because we can relate. Unfortunately, we all know people who claim to be Christian, or whose activities are “religious” in nature, but their character makes us wonder. Is that person a true Christian? Maybe you even wonder that about your very own SELF – asking, “Am I truly saved?”

I am here today to tell you that if you have received the Lord Jesus Christ in your heart by faith, Romans 8:16 in the Bible is for you. It says, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children.” You can look forward to eternal life with Him in heaven!

If you have confessed your sin and accepted the free gift of Jesus Christs sacrifice on the cross, stop doubting! Eternity in heaven is yours! Now thats Good News worth sharing!

What does Not make you a Christian

Any man or woman, boy or girl can be a REAL Christian! But since so many people claim to be Christians, its tough to tell who the real ones are. Lets start with what does NOT make someone a Christian. Listen closely; these are common misperceptions.

First, believing in God does not make you a Christian. Going to church, reading the Bible, praying, taking communion, getting baptized – none of these make you a Christian. Were you born into a Christian family? Do you talk about Jesus? Perhaps you give to the poor and live a clean and moral life. Thats good, but none of those things make you a Christian.

So, are you a real Christian? Theres only one way to know. Romans 10:9 in the Bible says, “That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

It really is that simple! Sometimes we humans complicate things. We make it about religious activity. But God simply wants our faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Being a Christian means having a relationship with the living Son of God! Tell someone this simple Good News today.

Are You Bragging?

Sometimes when I ask people, “Do you have eternal life?” I get a look of shock in response. They say, “How can I claim to have eternal life? I wont REALLY know until I die.” These people think that you are bragging, or ignorant, if you say that you are positive you have eternal life.

Why? Because they think eternal life is something you must PURCHASE. They think you EARN it by doing good works, living a “good” life, loving other people, and so on. When they hear someone say, “I am a Christian; I have eternal life!” what they hear is, “I am SO GOOD, I have earned eternal life.”

Nothing can be farther from the truth. The Bible makes it clear that eternal life is a gift! Romans 6:23 says: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

My friend, if you can say, “God offered me eternal life, and I took it!” then you can rest assured. Eternal life is yours! Not because of anything YOU have done, but because of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for you on the cross. Tell one person this Good News today. It is not bragging because it is a GIFT that they can accept, too!

Are You a Christian?

I was born in South America. If you ask someone there, “Are you a Christian?” you might be laughed at. Thats because most of them believe everyone is a Christian. And in Europe, youre likely to hear, “I was born in England, of course Im a Christian!”

Often in the United States people will say, “Im SORT OF a Christian.” Well, that is like a woman saying, “Im sort of pregnant.” No. Either she IS or she IS NOT pregnant. It is the same with being a Christian – either you ARE or you ARE NOT.

So, what IS a real Christian? Do you know? Jesus makes it clear so that we do not have to guess. In the book of John in the Bible, he says, “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life and will not be condemned.”

It is quite simple. Do you believe in – do you TRUST – Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life today? Have you accepted His free gift of eternal life? If you said yes, then you are a child of God! And you can boldly tell the world, “Yes, I am a Christian!”
