Representing the King

Evangelism Tips March 10th, 2009

Every believer in the eyes of God is positioned as a king or a queen. The Bible says in Rom. 5:17 that we should “reign in life through Christ.”

We are to live as not only members of His kingdom, but we also reign. There is authority with this because we are reigning as ruling kings and ruling queens. That means that wherever we go there’s a space over which the Lord has given us authority.

That space may be at your office cubicle, at the factory, or at home with your children. But wherever God takes you, He has put you there to represent Himself with authority, as well as with dignity.

Essentially, the Lord is saying: “When you get a chance to speak, remember I have appointed you a king. This is your piece of the kingdom. Speak well of me. Speak clearly of me. Speak by your conduct, speak words that carry authority, because you have the authority of the Spirit.”

We were meant to reign in this life, and when we can grasp that understanding, the witnessing power is great. So no matter where you find yourself throughout the day, remember that the real reason you’re there is to represent the King of kings and Lord of Lords. This truth can revolutionize your life, and the lives of those God puts around you.

Glory in Christ

Evangelism Tips March 9th, 2009

Did you know that as a follower of Jesus, you are a king or queen? It’s true! Romans 8:16 says, “The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now, if we are children then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.” Jesus Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords, and we’re heirs in His kingdom! Verse 17 goes on to say, “in order that we may also share in His glory.”

There is a glory to the Christian when he sees himself or herself in the position of royalty. There’s a glow. It’s not something you put on. It’s just there. When you act like a king or queen, people recognize your spiritual, quiet authority.

To me, my father-in-law was a great example of this kind of authority. He wasn’t a talker at all. He simply cared for his wife, worshipped the Lord in the church, and he gave his tithe. But what I especially loved about him was he would always invite his old college buddies to hear my evangelistic messages. He prayed they would be saved, and some of them were. Now he was no big mouth. Just a quiet highway engineer, but in my book he lived for God all the days of his life. That’s being the light of the world, and that’s the glory of God in a man.

Will We Have Toys In Heaven?

Children Question February 10th, 2009

Of course we will. God made us with a playful side! Even when we get grown up we still like to play games. There is no reason why we won’t still have toys in Heaven, as long as they are not something that would be disrespectful to God.

They may be anything from Building Blocks, Video Games, Dolls and Doll Houses, Legos, to other games like, playing Dress Up, Hide and Seek, Chase, Tag. You can go Swimming or play games you didn’t even know existed yet!

And because we’ll all have new bodies that won’t get tired, maybe some grown ups can join in with you. How would you like to play a game of Baseball or Football with your Mom or Dad? Maybe even some of your favorite Bible story friends will play too, like, Adam and Eve, Mary, Paul, Jonah, or Rebecca. You could go Water skiing with Peter, he’s had a little practice walking on water! Or maybe you will go Horseback riding or go to an amusement park with friends you haven’t even met yet. And why not? Don’t you think that people who like to build things will still enjoying building things just as much on the New Earth? Things like Roller Coasters, Ferris Wheels, and Carousels. I know I’ll still enjoy riding them! The possibilities of what things we’ll be doing are ENDLESS!

Education and Training

Evangelism Tips February 5th, 2009

You know there’s a phrase that I’ve heard many times and I really dislike it. They say in Europe, “oh the American church… it’s a mile wide and an inch deep.” Oh really?

But you know, there’s a certain meaning to that phrase and it’s this – what about discipleship? People say to themselves, “Okay, I gave my life to Christ. He forgave my sins. I’m a child of God. I’m going to heave when I die.” And, you want to see them grow!

This happened to Pat and me with our four sons and now our 8 grandsons. We want to see them grow. Not only believe on the Lord Jesus Christ so that they have eternal life, we want them to be disciples.

In Hebrews ch.6 we read, “Therefore, let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity.” That everybody likes.

We want to see our children and our grandchildren grow up and go on to maturity and become true followers of Jesus Christ who love the Word of God, who love the church, who love communion, who love prayer, and who love to share the Good News to those who are still lost.

Yes, Jesus says let us go to maturity. And, we can do it ourselves and we can help others go on to maturity if they stay close to Jesus Christ and His Holy Word.
