The Faithful Servant

Evangelism Tips March 20th, 2012

Joseph, from the Old Testament portion of the Bible, was a man who followed God, even when things were hard.  Joseph honored God no matter what.  Joseph was faithful to God as a son, as a household servant, and as a wrongfully accused prisoner.  Joseph never wavered in his faith even in the most difficult circumstances, and so God elevated him to second in command of the entire country!

No matter where you are, no matter what you’re doing, God can use you.  Where has God placed you?  It may not seem important, but it is!  You matter to God, and He has you right where you are for a reason.  He knows exactly what He’s doing.  The Bible says in James, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

God rewarded Joseph’s faith in a humble situation by blessing him with a position of power and authority!  Trust God, even when it’s difficult.  You will be amazed at the result!  Your faith and commitment to God will be a testimony to those in your life.  When people ask why you have peace and joy in a difficult situation, you can tell them the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Admit Your Sin

Evangelism Tips March 16th, 2012

What’s the first step to becoming a real Christian?  According to the Bible, it’s admitting you are sinful and need God’s forgiveness.

On our own, we can never measure up to God’s perfect standard of behavior. Having come to terms with that, you must believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross for our sins.

The apostle Peter said it this way: “Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God” (1 Peter 3:18). But in order to receive Christ’s forgiveness, you have to ask for it.

So the final step is to ask Jesus Christ to come into your life and take control.  If that’s your desire today, I urge you to pray this prayer with me”

“Heavenly Father, I want to be a real Christian. I realize my sins have separated me from You. Please forgive me. I believe Jesus Christ paid the penalty for my sins on the cross. Please come into my life, Lord Jesus. I want to follow You and obey You forever. Amen.”

If you’ve just asked God to make you a real Christian, congratulations!  We want to encourage you in your new life with Christ.  Please contact us today.

Don’t Just Talk About God

Evangelism Tips March 15th, 2012

Did you know that believing in Jesus Christ doesn’t make someone a Christian?  We have to act on this belief by committing our lives to Him. Anyone who is willing to surrender everything to God can become a Christian. It doesn’t matter how bad we’ve been. That’s why Jesus Christ died – so even our worst sins could be forgiven.

The only thing that will keep us from being forgiven is claiming we don’t need God’s forgiveness. In 1 John 1:8-9 we read: “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

The implications of becoming a Christian are enormous. It’s not like joining a club or choosing a university. A Christian has become a new person.  In the New Testament we read: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” [2 Corinthians 5:17].  It’s true!

If you haven’t already done so, I urge you to confess your sins and ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior.  Make today the day you become part of God’s family forever.

Myths De-bunked

Evangelism Tips March 14th, 2012

Today many people believe one or more myths about what makes someone a real Christian.

Myth #1 says you can be a Christian from birth. But the truth is: you can’t inherit Christianity like a genetic trait.

Myth #2 says going to church makes you a Christian.   But the truth is: you can go to church every week for your entire life without ever really knowing God.

Myth #3 says believing in God is enough. But the followers of most world religions believe in God. That doesn’t make them Christians, per se.

Myth #4 says praying to God makes you a Christian. But the adherents to countless religions all over the world pray. Christians certainly don’t have a monopoly on prayer.

Myth #5 says doing good things is enough.  Or at least, not doing bad things. But many atheists live decent lives and even do laudable things for humanity. They would be the first to say they’re not Christians. Good works are not good enough.

I urge you to take an honest look – beyond the myths -about what the Bible says makes someone a real Christian.
