My lifelong friend Brad, has the most remarkable capability to finish everything he starts. And he doesn’t just finish things- he is incredibly effective and efficient. He has always encouraged me to live life to the fullest. When we were younger, this often manifested itself in getting in all sorts of trouble. But now that he’s older, and knows the Lord, his gifts have been used in incredible ways.

He’s the president of his company. He has a great family. His life is the picture of success. But there’s more to Brad than that. Several years ago, he was challenged to start sharing his testimony. And like everything else- He has done it faithfully! He realized that he’s been given his influence and drive, not just for worldly success, but to bring others into the Kingdom. Paul writes in Romans, “And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? (…)As it is written, ’How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”

Brad has purposed to bring the Good News to those who may not have heard. He has focused his “can do” attitude, on reaching his world. If you have Brad’s passion for life- focus it on reaching your world, just as he has. God will use the person He created you to be, to draw others to Himself.

The famous 19th century preacher Charles Spurgeon wrote, “We began to live when at the cross we looked up and saw the flowing of those founts of forgiveness…we expect to die looking for our Lord’s appearing and resting upon His finished work.”

You know, my father did exactly as Spurgeon described- he lived sold out for Jesus, and died singing praises to Him! My father had peace and joy in what seemed to many a hopeless situation. But death was not hopeless or scary for my Dad because he knew, as a follower of Jesus, that physical death brought him eternal life!

Isaiah wrote, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.” There is real power in what took place on the cross- power to heal and make new! You can experience this power too, if you accept Jesus Christ into your heart as Lord. When you do, you will experience joy and peace like never before. You too will be able to face death with peace, not fear, knowing that Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is sufficient.

Charles Spurgeon is one of the most famous Bible teachers of all time. He drew more than 6,000 people to his church every week! He dedicated his life to reaching his world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. However, his life was not without difficulties. Spurgeon had many harsh critics, and suffered from severe bouts of depression.

Spurgeon wrote, “In deep waters, in sickness, in poverty, in sorrow, in depression, through fire and through water we discover the mercy of God. Yes, he deserves to be trusted although we cannot see Him.” Spurgeon could find joy, and peace- even in troubled times- because hard times brought him to a deeper understanding of God.

David wrote in the Psalms, “It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.” If you are struggling right now, cling to God. Remember His love, demonstrated on the cross. And remember there are things to be learned through your hardship- things you can share with others. Believe God’s promises, even when it’s hard, and He will use you in ways you cannot imagine.

Some people complain that the Lord isn’t being gracious with them when they go through a hard time. When they are struggle financially, they think God has forgotten them, or that He no longer cares. But God does care. He hasn’t forgotten. God is always God. He’s always gracious.

And that goodness is especially evident by the miracle of the cross of Jesus. St. Paul writes in the book of Romans that the “wages of sin is death.” All of us have sinned against God, so none of us deserve to be with Him in Heaven. It is only through Jesus’ death on the cross that we can be with God for eternity.

Be careful if you’re hurting not to blame God or become angry with Him. He loves you so much that He died and rose for you. That should be more than enough for you to remember His goodness. Praise God today for all that He’s done for you. You can rejoice in your salvation, even if you have temporary difficulties here on earth. Share God’s goodness with a friend today and explain the reason for your joy, even when things are hard.

Do you remember when Moses went up to Mt. Sinai to meet with God? When he returned, it says in Exodus that, “he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.”
Moses’ face was literally shining! The Bible says that God makes His face to shine upon His children. God made his face shine upon Moses, and the people were astonished by his glow! They knew Moses has been with God.

Do you know that the Lord wants to shine through you? The more time you spend in God’s Word and in prayer, the more your countenance will change! People will recognize that you have hope, joy, peace, and love that can only come from the Almighty God. You will actually look different, and this can be one of the most powerful tools in reaching others with the Good News of Jesus Christ. People will see that there is something different about you.
Spend time in your Bible today.

Pray, and thank God for all that He has done in your life. If you spend time with God, people will notice something different about you! When they ask what it is, share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ

I suspect that like me, you have met some follower of Jesus who can be pretty critical. This is no way to reach others with the Good News of Jesus Christ! Let’s be people who are quick to bless others, just as God has blessed us. Let’s look for things that people are doing right, not what they’re doing wrong.

I like to say, “Let’s be about what Christians are for, not what they’re against.” Instead of focusing on different opinions, let’s share God’s love and tell our world about Jesus’ death on the cross, resurrection, and the new life He offers. After all, it’s called “Good News.”

Don’t just sit back and try to catch others in their mistakes. We are all sinners. We have all made mistakes. But, since we serve a God who has forgiven us, let’s do the same for others! The book of Proverbs says, “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”

Offer a blessing to a friend today. Reach out to someone with a critical spirit and bless them. There is power in sharing the blessings of God with others! I would love to hear stories of how you’re sharing God’s love with others.

In the book of Numbers, there is a priestly blessing that says, “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.” This was a blessing for the Israelites, but it’s also for us. [...]

In the book of Numbers, there is a priestly blessing that says, “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.” This was a blessing for the Israelites, but it’s also for us. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, so we can apply this blessing even right now!

God is faithful, good, loving, and gives peace that surpasses understanding. These are extraordinary promises from the Almighty God. The Creator of the universe owes us nothing, and yet He wants to do these great things for us!

Meditate on God’s goodness today. Think of all the ways the Lord has blessed you. As you recall the Lord’s goodness, ask Him to bring to mind people who need the Lord. Then, tell these people the difference Jesus Christ has made in your life. Sharing your faith is as easy as telling a friend what Jesus Christ means to you.

CS Lewis famously stated that the churches greatest purpose is to draw men to Christ. If the church did not do that, he continued, “all the cathedrals, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself are simply a waste of time.” Wow. That’s a pretty strong statement.

There are many things that the church tries to do. We try to serve our community and educate ourselves. We try to have great programs for all ages and cool music. While those are all super positive aspects of life and the church, but they’re not the core and fundamental challenge that was put before us. After Jesus rose from death, He commanded His followers to “go and make disciples of all the nations.”

What can you do to stay focused on reaching your world with the Good News? And what are you doing to become more like Him? If we put our focus on Jesus, and telling others about Him, it will make a huge difference in our life and in our church. So today, make an effort to reach out to someone who doesn’t know the Lord. It’s one of the best things you can do with this day the Lord has given you.
