Secret Sin

Jokes August 4th, 2008

Three pastors went to the pastor convention and were all sharing one room.
The first pastor said, “Let’s confess our secret sins one to another.
I’ll start - my secret sin is I just love to gamble.
When I go out of town, it’s cha-ching cha-ching, let the machines ring.”

The second pastor said, “My secret sin is that I just hate working.
I copy all my sermons from those given by other pastors.”

The third pastor said, “My secret sin is gossiping and, oh boy, I just can’t wait to get out of this room!”

Forgiveness in Christ

Evangelism Tips August 4th, 2008

The conscience of human being needs forgiveness. That’s a fact. No matter how you try to get around it, every one of us has struggled with guilt. We need to be pardoned.

The Bible teaches that through the blood of Jesus, we can be forgiven one -hundred percent. No matter what we’ve done, we can be freed from guilt and condemnation because Christ took our sins to the cross. Isn’t that a staggering event?!?

One of my most favorite stories of forgiveness is that of Saul, in the book of Acts. Saul was a Pharisee; a religious man and highly educated. But nevertheless, he had a murderous streak inside. He was persecuting Christians, literally to death. He was even the gang leader of the group that killed the first Christian martyr - Stephen.

But then, suddenly, shockingly, Saul met Jesus Christ. And this educated, wealthy, religious man with a criminal bent was transformed on the spot! Forever!

Do you know someone who wonders if Jesus could really forgive them of their sins? Remind this friend that if God could forgive and redeem Saul, a murdered, He can forgive anyone. No one is beyond His reach.

Try I John 1:9 as you share Christ, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just; and will forgive us our sins, and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Cool promise to pass on, don’t you think?
